During the past 50 years I’ve competed as an international athlete, I’ve worked as a Geologist in Central and Southern Africa, and here in the UK as a Chiropractor and Nutritionist, a researcher an educator and as a Company Director.My professional and personal interests include geology, the environment, human evolutionary trends, the significance of minerals and trace elements to optimum health and the importance of correct biomechanics to health and wellbeing. Of particular interest to me is the historical loss of micronutrients in the foods available to us as a nation (refer to my research papers) and finding ways and means to add mineral and trace element rich brines from the Great Salt Lake in Utah to manufactured foods and drinks is important to me – as this simple procedure could make such a significant difference to the growing numbers of people suffering from chronic degenerative conditions including Metabolic Syndrome X. Why the reduction of salt content by 60% and the enhancing of flavour whilst adding physiologically and psychologically significant micronutrients to recipes has not been fully embraced by the food and drinks manufactures is, in my view, scandalous. That said I’m totally in awe of our almost miraculous ability to adapt, compensate and adjust to the ever increasing toxic load we individually and collectively place on ourselves and our environment. I just hope we wake up in time and don’t do the usual crisis management procedure of trying to deal with the symptom once it’s manifested. What is needed in the current debate is the awareness of and research into those elusive forces that enable life itself to manifest.
