I survey open-ended responses submitted by Baylor staff members who volunteered to receive cognitive-behavioral counseling in their stress management. I am presently evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention by following key cognitive and conative indices. I have employed similar techniques for student services in evaluating the OEQs of 3,000 entering freshmen.

I first completed a pilot study in three ways of measuring clarity of student writing in a moral philosophy class. I am now directing a program effectiveness study for introductory philosophy classes. To do I am employ NLP techniques to extract and quantify development differences in students' first and culminating writing samples.

I detail emotional and cognitive states through Automated Written Evaluation. I do so on multiple platforms, including R, SAS and Python. Most importantly, I do so toward documenting meaningful shifts in desired behavior, like domain mastery and developing empathy for others. Examining the New Class details a survey of entering freshmen and their sense of belonging. In particular, I show how awareness of time predicts less social awareness.In Memorium shows how a complex cognitive and emotional literary genre can be used to indicate shifts in worldview. Mastery of that rhetoric is tantamount to information workers' fluency and literacy. This study in particular highlights the decision-making capacity revealed by similarity scoring.

The most pressing challenge is to allow 205 interviews to sort themselves out by the psychological shifts evident between speakers who seek to integrate their work and faith and those who do not. That factor reduction is presently driving a book-length report, as well as possessing insight for the workplace.
