Execution of the following projects:- Flue Gas Desulphurisation Project, £250m, Longannet, Scotland Isle of Grain CHP 1275 MW Power Station – Alliance project with Alstom (client) and Laing O’Rourke (civils). Amec scope £110m – Project Cancelled Renewable Energy – Windfarm Project, £55m, Isle of Skye, ScotlandPrincipal Accountabilities• Close working with SHE team continually implementing improvements and ensuring construction activities conducted in line with UK legislation• Management of the design, project management, construction and commissioning activities from site based location• Management of project programme and budget including Earned Value• Ensuring tight project control and change management• Analysis of project performance and reporting this to Amec and client corporate management• Ensuring effective management of business and project risk• Providing support to the contract and commercial function• Leading key meetings from constructability, contract negotiations, H&S, progress/planning/cost reviews, risk management etc• Contract reviews and negotiations for major equipment and work packages• Mentoring and coaching the project management team, providing continual support and commitment to their development, including recognising areas of under performance and developing plans for individuals improvement

Originally the successful Bid Manager, then becoming the Project Engineering and Interface Manager, then finally the Deputy Project Director, reporting to the Project Director on the $250M+ (circa 350 000 engineering man-hours) project for Rabigh in Saudi Arabia (Part of the $12B Rabigh Refinery Project). Rabigh was a 50:50 joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical Company, Japan. This was a major tankage project which consisted of Cryogenic storage (Ethylene, Propylene and Propylene Oxide storage tanks), spheres, atmospheric tanks and associated refrigeration plant including balance of plant packages and systems for this EPC lump sum project.• See above for general management core skills and other skills• Successful Bid Manager for this project, including contract negotiations assisting Deputy MD and Commercial Director• Management of Out of Kingdom activities for detail design delivery, procurement, cost control, QA and programme to meet the milestones, project and business requirements for this project in order to meet the specification of the client• Contract negotiations for In Kingdom construction activities, Balance of Plant Packages and equipment• Review and negotiation of major equipment packages and specialist design contracts• Progressing and resolution of issues for critical equipment and material deliveries for the work scope, during a very hectic and demanding time for raw material commodities including nickel steel• Interface management with other major contractors

Management of project portfolio in excess of £30m per annum (>100,000 engineering man-hours) for two off-shore gas platforms and an on-shore gas terminal. This included the generation and development of Project Management System. Includes project methodology for large and small projects.

Plant Technical Engineer on ICI’s Polyester Polymer Plant in Dumfries. Leading the plant development team, implementing solutions to projects and maintenance issues.
