Tice was the primary financier and 'hands-on' executive producer of Soul Surfer, the movie based on the life of Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm to a shark attack in Hawaii. The movie starred Anna-Sophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Lorraine Nicholson and Craig T. Nelson. Soul Surfer grossed $44 million in domestic box office and continued to achieve outstanding success in the DVD market. The movie also achieved the coveted A+ score from Cinemascore, a score only achieved by 29 movies in the last 14 years. It’s an elite club that includes the likes of Argo, The King’s Speech, The Blind Side, A Few Good Men and Titanic.The Cinemascore measures movie appeal by polling moviegoer reactions to major movie releases on opening night.

Tice educated and advised senior management on the fund, lectured private and publicly , and made numerous TV appearances about his outlook for financial markets.

Founded the Prudent Bear Fund (BEARX) and was portfolio manager from 1996-2008. For the ten years ended 12/08 when Tice sold the fund, BEARX increased in value at a 7.97% annualized rate, while the S&P 500 lost 1.38% annually. In 2000. Tice utilized short sales of overvalued common stocks and stock indices, as well as junior precious metals' mining companies to achieve a negatively-correlated investment return profile. This strategy helped protect investors through a period where Tice felt there would be significant stock price declines while strong gold stock performance helped offset losses from short selling during market rallies. Tice founded the Prudent Global Income Fund (had been renamed from the Prudent Safe Harbor Fund). This fund was a short-term international bond fund, designed to protect agains the decline in the U.S. dollar. It's formation coincided with the begin of a significant decline in the dollar.

Tice managed up to 25 people in two businesses, research and portfolio management. The research business was called Behind the Numbers which provided 'sell' and quality of earning recommendations to portfolio managers. Portfolio management involved the Prudent Bear Fund and the Prudent Global Income Fund which are both discussed in another section.
