Led on resourcing for Cluster, working alongside Financial, Commercial, and People aspects of operations. Managed 14 large-scale scientific facilities, leading a team of 10+ reports. Overseeing projects lasting 1-10+ months. Role involved setting and delivering group budget (>£1m turnover), workforce planning & forecasting, stakeholder management, organisation and prioritisation of workflows, and Health & Safety for all laboratory users.• Developed the Laboratory staff into a multi-skilled workforce able to cover for a varied workload between departments through training & culture change – reducing reliance on agency staff• Consistently beat budget, despite paying for upgrades to facilities & equipment, achieved through efficiencies and income diversification• Diversified income streams to include R&D and training alongside consultancy to insulate against market changes• Increased revenue through better pricing due to cost efficiencies and changes in business practises allowing more competitive proposals leading to higher win %• Created a targeted five-year strategic plan for modernisation and successfully delivered the first two years• Vastly improved health & safety, achieving best practise standards through culture change (continuous improvement mindset), Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, Training documents, and Internal & External Audits• Managed the design, planning (inc. planning permission, archaeological surveys), and construction of new buildings on the Business Park

- Developing opportunities within the externally funded research sector;- Commercialisation of company-owned IP into new product and service revenue streams;- Marketing of research portfolio.

- Management of flagship physical modelling facility (Fast Flow Facility);- Management of a portfolio of bids and technically complex projects, including product testing, containing individual items valued up to £1.5m, involving teams of 20+ staff from bid writing through to planning, project management, delivery and close. - Managing physical and numerical modelling projects including scour protection design and verification, port and harbour design etc.;- Led on company participation in European funded Hydralab+ programme with responsibility for co-ordinating European research group activities and access to HR Wallingford facilities;- Member of External Advisory Board for Leeds University Centre for Doctoral Training;- Selected and transferred an internal, inexperienced candidate with potential into my team. Line Managed and coached from non-specialist to achieving 96% mark on Oceanography Diploma, becoming an instrumentation specialist and core member of the Fast Flow Facility team - eventually succeeding me as Laboratory Manager;- Wrote articles for magazines, online publications, twitter and LinkedIn, reaching >1 million people

- Lead the finalisation and opening of a new £1.4m flagship physical modelling facility;- Spearheaded the business case for start-up of the facility with £100k+ of equipment purchase that set the direction for a 5-year plan and complemented the current facilities; - Project Manager for all projects within the facility;- Numerical modeller (TELEMAC, Delft3D) utilising statistical programming (MATLAB, R);- Proficient in full Microsoft Office suite including Access;- Sediment transport specialist, with experience and knowledge of both cohesive and non-cohesive sediments, hydraulics, estuaries, and coastal development.
