I am a recent graduate with five years of customer service experience and four months of sports management experience. To argue that I have went full circle academically would be an understatement completing both a a graduate certificate and a degree in two disciplines (sports business management and media studies) makes for an inspiring story to persevere and to keep pushing even during difficult times. My passion for Formula One and professional soccer and my fascination to learn more about how sports teams and athletes pose as promotional assets in the advertising for a team, or athletes corporate sponsors. This, in turn, is what attracted me to study sports business management. My decision to study sports business management taught me a lot about how business plays a role in the sports industry, including planning and organizing a successful sporting event, the methods of selling sport as a product or service, business strategies, strategic and financial planning was an intellectually rewarding endeavour. Being given the ability to use my foundations from my media studies degree, such as podcasting and online marketing, helped me thrive in the professional environment of my field placement. My quest is to use my sports management and media design skills training is leveraged the projects I completed over my academic career. However, I am open to working as a market research analyst or as a media planning assistant to use my research skills and computer skills. I am eager to learn new skills and apply current ones. I spent time reading up on how sports teams and sponsors drive use marketing to advertise, namely how the recent scandals of Juventus and Manchester City hurt the brands of professional football clubs. Outside of reading about sports scandals, I also created unpublished works that I made during my academic career, including website designs, various videos, namely a documentary film about Giles Villenueve, an informative video about quality control, and a reaction video and a podcast about my various topics in university. My strengths include my hard work ethic, the ability to adapt and the eagerness to analysis and research skills. Having done all of these things over my work and academic career, I have been able to thrive and adapt to different cultural environments, living in North America and Europe. If you are interested in learning more of what I can offer to your company/sports team or need me to go into more detail about my experience, please feel free to message me on Linkedin or email me at david.tonna@icloud.com.
