Helping to identify the root cause of operational problems while also also working to effectively solve them through capital, personnel, business strategy, technology or an intricate combination of many of them.

Most recently, I led facility operations at Capital One Arena, EagleBank Arena, MedStar Capitals Iceplex, and Medstar Wizards Performance Center. In this capacity, I held full responsibility for IT, Facility Resources, and Technical & Broadcast Operations teams.Successes include negotiating strategic deals, ranging from $500K to $60M, that reaped solid financial and political rewards for MSE. As well, I drove +$65M in construction and capital improvement projects over 3 years. Additionally, I helped design and build out an NBA practice facility on time and budget. Also notable, we hosted the Stanley Cup Championship parade for 100K+ attendees with 4 days to plan, while concurrently holding the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I’m also proud of leading the organization through the upheaval and uncertainties of the onset and development of a global pandemic and the smooth restart of events.

During this time, I provided strategic direction for a restructured NBA and NHL venue/organization with new ownership. This role also involved overseeing facility operations, box office, event booking, engineering, F&B, housekeeping, marketing, event production, guest relations, and security.My impact included developing and executing a 5-year Capital Improvement Strategic Plan and updating policies/procedures by conducting a SOP Audit. As well, I implemented an incident management system, event management system, training program, and improved security system.By developing a comprehensive training program and reward/incentive plan, we boosted customer satisfaction and employee morale. I also secured city-wide and large-scale events, including high-profile NCAA contests, that delivered positive economic impact to the area.

During this time, I rapidly increased event revenue YoY—producing, negotiating, and booking new business in a massive market for all WSELP facilities. I achieved this by bringing a wide array of innovative and premier events to building, in coordination with NBA, NHL, WNBA, and Georgetown schedules. Accomplishments included securing Presidential Inauguration Events 3 consecutive times as well as new family shows which included Monster Jam. Likewise, I automated a manual calendar date tracking system which dramatically improved efficiencies and communication channels. In additional to this, I created a new system that evaluated financial performance of events and expedited settlements with show promoters.

Initially, I was hired to serve as owner’s representative during construction of a $50M, +7500-seat multi-purpose arena, and then I oversaw all operational aspects of a new on-campus facility. Subsequently, I successfully opened the building and attracted outside events to the venue.My contributions included developing and executing a comprehensive FF&E plan for purchase, delivery, and installation within budget and time constraints. Also, I ramped up the staff—hiring, onboarding, and training 11 FTEs and ~ 200 PTE in operations, box office, guest relations, and finance. As a result, I secured 4 outside events in first 90 days and 8 total in 7 months by partnering with key stakeholders.
