In addition to writing the types of stories I mentioned in the "Staff Writer" entry below, I edited other writers. This involved helping writers establish story ideas; guiding them through the process of turning those ideas into articles through research, interviews, and analyses; and ultimately executing in a way that communicates concepts clearly and without copy errors.As tech editor for a leading automotive publication, I had an incredible view of the entire auto industry and of car culture at large. I regularly corresponded with industry designers, executives, engineers, and PR representatives. I attended auto shows, interacted with car enthusiasts all around the world, and remained well-versed in auto industry news and technical developments.I wrote tech explainers at an elite level, and remained one of the website's top writers by total engaged time (i.e. total amount of time spent reading stories).

Jalopnik's most-read writer over the four year span of 2016 to 2020 (I was Jalopnik’s top performing writer by uniques in 2017 and 2018, and second highest performing writer by uniques in 2016 and 2019—I led in total engaged time every year). My stories played a major role in growing Jalopnik's audience to the largest in website history, and establishing the site as the leading auto-enthusiast publication on earth.My writing spanned, and continues to span, a variety of different topics. My technical deep-dives, which often involve interviewing lead engineers of newly-released vehicles, are often 6,000-7,000 word technical explainers that tend to pull in massive readership. My favorite articles are "car culture" pieces that involve interviewing car enthusiasts around the world and uncovering fascinating, unique stories. Over the years, I've written many stories about my experiences with automobile repair, spending over $10,000 of my own money on four annual off-road projects, which required me to lead a team of mechanics, and which netted over 100 articles at roughly 49,000 pageviews each. In addition, I wrote captivating stories on automobile history, drove and reviewed many new automobiles, and expertly covered breaking news in the automotive industry. I also produced opinion pieces, investigative reports, and even shot, produced and edited numerous successful videos. This all came after my time as a Buyers' Guide writer. After leaving my engineering job at Chrysler, I joined Jalopnik to write "Buyers' Guides" for over 150 cars sold on the U.S. market. Though unglamorous, the position forced me to study the technical and design elements—as well as the standard and optional content and pricing—of every new car sold in the U.S. The role got my foot in the door as a writer; on the side, I penned feature stories that became so successful that I was relieved from writing Buyers' Guides to begin as a regular staffer.See the attached list of writing samples.

As the JL Jeep Wrangler's SIR from the Advanced AeroThermal team, I led powertrain cooling system design for the next generation of Jeep's most legendary SUV. This involved ensuring that all components on all powertrains were properly cooled so they could meet vehicle and component level performance and durability targets. If targets weren't being met, I worked with release engineers, packaging engineers, and many other teams to redesign pumps, hoses, valves, etc. I had to work with designers to make sure their fascia designs allowed for enough air to reach the cooling module to meet trailer tow objectives and other cooling targets. I had to validate designs via vehicle testing to ensure that they'd function well in worst-case driving conditions. Led the development of first-ever corporate standard processes for designing thermal systems for electric powertrains. These standard processes sought to provide a road map for designing cooling systems for electric motors, battery packs, DC-DC converters, On-Board Charging Modules, and other components found in BEV, PHEV, and mild hybrid vehicles.Led the development of corporate standard processes that define coolant flow and airflow targets of various components to optimize powertrain performance. These documents also describe how to validate system performance via simulation and vehicle testing. Example: These standard processes told engineers how to set coolant flow targets for radiators, heater cores, EGR coolers, and charge air coolers. They then specified how to set up computer-based simulations to verify that the targets are being met. Finally, the standard processes described how to physically test a vehicle with flow meters to validate that flow targets are met and that simulations are accurate. Led the creation and maintenance of a systems engineering tool which defines and organizes the inputs and outputs from various departments that go into designing, validating, and testing vehicle thermal systems.

Worked with numerous groups including Body in White, electrical, HVAC, and manufacturing to develop new air suspension line routing solutions that minimize component cost and maximize assembly efficiency. Conducted multiple benchmarking studies to help solve complex packaging problems
