In addition, In the corporate and M&A practice, David has been advised clients on various matters throughout the lifecycle of enterprises, including company set-up, foreign investment, formation of joint venture and strategic alliance, business license application, contracting, merger and acquisition, corporate restructuring/ spin-off, and dispute resolution.David leads the firm’s aviation and shipping practice. In the maritime and shipping sector, David advises clients on ship building, reflagging, mortgage registration, sales & lease back, shipping insurance and reinsurance and joint venture formation. David also assisted Ocean Affairs Council of Taiwan in establishing the regulatory framework for promotion of ocean energies. In the aviation sector, David advised Civil Aeronautics Administration on a wide range of regulatorymatters for consecutive years, including those related to unmanned aerial vehicle, fatigue management, and compliance with ICAO air safety standards. He also advises clients on matters in connection with aircraft component and general aviation business license.In the sector of insurance, David advised on insurance claims in connection with offshore wind farm construction projects in Taiwan, include the coverage of an OAR policy for Formosa 1 offshore wind farm, insured’ notice obligation for increasing risk/material change, claim for construction damage, and insurance coverage requirement for wind turbine suppliers. David also advised a Belgium firearm manufacturer on the insurance requirement for contracting with a Taiwan SOE for a turkey project. In addition, David also advised Taiwan’s FSC (i.e., the insurance regulator) on the amendment to the valued added tax rules for the insurance industry in Taiwan, and a Euro insurance surveyor on claim investigation and cross border transfer in Taiwan.
