I am in charge of 150 dedicated people in the Energy & Climate division at the Danish Technological Institute. We address the green transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy. We work in the fields of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Smart Energy, Power to X and Metrology.As a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) we operate in the field between business and academia. Taking knowledge and making it work in real life. With extensive lab facilities we seek new solutions, develop new products with industry and test products for industry in and outside of Denmark. I am in charge of 160 dedicated people in the Energy & Climate division. We address the green agenda of transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy. We work in the fields of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Smart Energy and Climate Change adaption.As a Research and Technology Organization we operate in the field between business and academia. Taking knowledge and making it work in real life. With extensive lab facilities we seek new solutions, develop new products with industry and test products for industry in and outside of Denmark. Besides the responsibility for the Energy and Climate division I am also part of the top management at DTI and work internationally participating in European and International networks and with responsibility for the Institute's International Centre.

The Materials and Production division was a division of 140 people. New areas added to the division were among others Tribology and Materials testing. The division was centrally placed for an early understanding that all Production can not leave Denmark and we worked with this agenda Nationally and Internationally.

There was a reorganization and the Environment division became the Materials division with 110 people. The division was successful in pursuing some new agendas in the fields of Nanotechnology, bio-corrosion and transforming the Chemical lab from low price mass production to a specialized service provider.

After having been Deputy Head for a year I was offered to take up the position as EVP of the Environment division. This included responsibility for the P&L and the overall development of the division. I also joined the top management group of the Institute.

I was offered to leave my comfort zone in the field of energy and become Deputy Head of the Environment Division. I referred to the Executive Vice President in charge of the Environment Division. The division consisted of approximately 100 people organized in 4 centres with Centre Managers working in the fields of Environmental Technology, Chemistry, Surface Technology and Water Technology.

I took the step from being a specialist to becoming a leader in this job. I had the P&L responsibility for a group of 15 people working in the field of Energy. We had extensive labs testing radiators, insulation, oil boilers and heat exchangers. We worked commercially for both Danish and international companies. We applied for R&D projects both nationally and in the EU.

I worked at the Solar Energy Lab. I approved Solar Energy Systems in Denmark. This involved calculation of yearly energy yield, approval of documentation and inspection of the manufacturers production proces. I applied for and worked on several projects regarding Solar Energy. I was posted at NESA(an electricity utility) to help them selling solar systems to their customers and I worked Internationally with the European Solar Industry Federation.

I worked as an engineer calculating and designing Solar Energy systems typically connected to the district heating plants. I was also involved in all the activities of a small solar manufacturer - ranging from energy calculations, price calculations, sales meetings, sales to private households and plumbers, exhibitions, answering the phone and installing solar systems.
