As a veteran software consultant with 30 years of professional software development experience including over 20 years providing direct development consultation, I have participated in an extensive number of interesting and technically challenging software development efforts. Projects have ranged from short term, isolated subsystem implementations to multi-year engagements including architectural design and specification through release, operations, documentation and maintenance. With an emphasis on healthcare technologies and interoperability as well as modern web and mobile development, clients have varied across many industries and have included pre/early stage startups, midsize private firms and large enterprise public companies.My healthcare and public health development roles have focused primarily on designing and implementing software applications across a wide range of health-related domains including clinical trial management, DICOM medical imaging and interoperability, teleradiology, medical billing and interfacing, anesthesia quality reporting, post-authorization drug pharmacovigilance and disease registry reporting, and intellectual and developmental disabilities management systems.Most recently, I have been focusing on emerging healthcare interoperability standards for the integration and exchange of healthcare information including DICOMweb, HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, IHE XDS-I.b, all topics for which I host a regular events at the Cambridge Innovation Center entitled Healthcare Interop Boston.
