The Assistant Director provides leadership in the development of strategies, programs, and initiatives to help First Year Experience and Family Programs (FYEFP) meet the goals of the office & university. Specifically, the Assistant Director works in support of key elements identified within the mission and goals of the FYEFP office as it relates to the university’s strategic plan. This position is expected to interact broadly and with minimal supervision with faculty, staff, students, and administrators across campus, as well as the parents of CWRU students. The Assistant Director will be both a strategist and hands-on practitioner with a level of expertise in first-year experience, family programs, orientation, and bringing their skills and vision to help carry out the needs of the office. Members of the FYEFP office are expected to serve all students and their parents efficiently and effectively, with friendliness, enthusiasm, patience and respect.

Each voyage enrolls 500-700 students representing between 250-300 institutions. -Traveled to 16 countries while supporting interdisciplinary coursework and hands-on experience in the global community.-Positively influenced, contributed to, and improved the quality of life of students through programming, community development activities, and having intentional conversations.-Provided oversight for the general welfare of all 76 students in my assigned residential area.-Organized and managed all recreational sports and intramural activities on the ship. -Coordinated a 12-hour Activities Desk operation while “at sea” including the training and supervision of 5 Desk Assistants.-Led and served as a Trip Liaison for field practicum excursions on daylong and multi-day programs.-Planned and Coordinated the Sea Olympics, a day-long event involving all 700 members of the shipboard community.-Advised the Sea Committee consisting of 16 student members and 4 faculty/staff members.-Participated in professional staff "first responder" duty rotation to provide 24-hour on-call emergency and crisis response for a shipboard community of 700 students, faculty, staff, and lifelong learners.
