DAVID M. VAN ATTADavid Van Atta is a partner in the real estate law firm of Hanna & Van Atta, Palo Alto, California. David Van Atta has practiced as a real estate attorney for over thirty-five years. His legal practice has involved all aspects of real property transactions, with a particular emphasis on real estate development, acquisition and finance. He is the past chair of Home Builders Association’ Northern California Department of Real Estate Committee and served as a member of the advisory committee to the California Assembly Select Committee on Common Interest Developments in 1985. He was the Vice-Chairman of the California State Bar's Real Property Law Section and a past Chair of the Condominium, Cooperative Housing and Subdivision Committee of that Section. He is the co-author with John Paul Hanna of Hanna & Van Atta, California Common Interest Developments Law and Practice published by Thomson- West Group. Mr. Van Atta is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, where he served on the Board of Governors and as Secretary of the College.He is a member of the College of Community Association Lawyers and a member of the Anglo American Real Property Institute, serving on the Board of Governors and the past Treasurer of that institute. He has been an instructor in real estate legal and tax matters at the University of California Extension, Golden Gate University and for CEB.Some of his other affiliations include: The Community Associations Institute; Lambda Alpha International Land Economics Society and the Urban Land Institute [Executive Committee, San Francisco Bay Area District Council].
