For the first time ever, Leiden University is participating in iGEM "International Genetically Engineered Machine". This competitions entails applying the principles of engineering to biology, to create bacteria which fulfil novel applications. I am responsible for the societal aspect of the competition. Furthermore, I also look at ways to turn our bacterium into a product.

As a faculty council member, I monitor the decisions made by the board of the Faculty of Science. This includes Co-determination on crucial processes like the faculty's budget, educational affairs, etc.

I researched the spectrum (frequencies of light) of an atom -ytterbium- as a function of external magnetic field strength.This system is a candidate for a quantum memory to be used with quantum computers!Scientifically speaking, I research the homogeneous linewidth of Ytterbium ions in a Whispering Gallery Mode ring resonator. More specifically, I look at the temperature-dependence of the homogeneous linewidth when I apply a magnetic field to the sample. This in in the range of 10 to 100 mK

Here, I worked at Public Impact on a project of the European Commission for the Horizon 2020 program. This project deals with the information exchange between public and private sectors regarding innovation with nanotechnology. I was able to use my knowledge of physics to be able to analyse the situation.

Studenten Goepering Leiden is a political party for students. As the treasurer, I was responsible for the finance and legal status of the party. During this period, I helped the party with a merger with another student political party.

Honours College is an extracurricular track which one follows on top of one's regular academic course.The functions of an ambassador include: Pitching at lectures, presenting at informative events, creating promotional material like flyers, hosting events which introduce students to Honours College, and being a student representative at all times.

As an assistant teacher, you employ pedagogic techniques in order to learn 3 years of subject matter to high school students in 3 days, before their final exams. The subject I taught is Physics.
