  • Mobile Medical Disaster Relief
    International Projects Director
Mobile Medical Disaster Relief 2005 - Jul 2013
I have been with Mobile Medical Disaster Relief since it was founded in 2005 and have enjoyed sharing the responsibilities for much of its work and growth over the years. Expanding from a response to Hurricane Katrina to a multi-million dollar disaster relief organization with an emphasis in medical aid, I have overseen the construction of clinics in Honduras, organized aid shipments to China, Nigeria, Mozambique, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, India, Peru, Mexico, Kenya, and Haiti, and have served in Haiti since the catastrophic earthquake on January 12 of 2010, leading weekly medical teams at our clinics and working in community development in villages across the country. In Haiti I worked extensively with the United Nations to establish the license for our medical clinics. Throughout the many countries where I have served I have frequently led English as a Second Language classes. My classes typically contained 30-75 students and ranged from beginners to conversational levels. I have also worked in fund-raising, speaking at numerous venues and selling the products that our international vocational schools produce. Another of my roles includes website construction and maintenance. I have also been responsible for the numerous micro-enterprise projects throughout the countries in which we work. This includes micro-loans, savings groups, vocational schools, farmers’ cooperatives, and livestock and agriculture education and marketing. While I was studying at Abilene Christian University I managed Mobile Medical Disaster Relief’s College Campus club. There I organized fundraising campaigns, hosted concerts and 5k runs to benefit our work, and led advocacy meetings speaking before social clubs, rotary clubs, and city councils. I have written a curriculum for the Campus Clubs and MMDR now has a presence on three different universities.
  • Department Of Defense
    Agricultural Specialist
Department Of Defense Aug 2012 - May 2013
Agricultural Specialist for the Department of Defense, I originally worked for TX Agricultural Development Team 6 as their civilian subject matter expert. After TX ADT 6 redeployed I partnered with the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team and their SEABEE component. For the remainder of my tour I worked extensively with SF teams throughout Ghazni Province providing agricultural development as a means of obtaining more white space in their area of operations. My projects ranged from irrigation canal improvement to agricultural education seminars to advising the local government officials and building cool storage warehouses. I managed projects from $5,000 to $5000,000 and led missions throughout numerous districts. As a DoD civilian I was given the position of GS-12.
