David Verde graduated in Computer Science, in 2021, from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, and got his master's degree in Cybersecurity in 2024 from the same institution. He is currently a Guest Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, where he has worked since 2023. He is also one of the Co-Founders of Verde&Silva, Lda, a startup of software engineering that focuses on the development of inclusive solutions that promote accessibility through the use of technology and digital transformation. David is kind and excellent at teamwork. He is passionate about the technological field and its continuous evolution. In his projects, he is diligent, persistent, and committed to overcoming challenges and achieving objectives. He is always ready to embrace new challenges. David worked on the Viana+Acessível app as a final project during the last year of his graduation. This application intends to promote inclusion, autonomy, and safety in Viana do Castelo historical center, for users with different types of reduced mobility, through the recommendation of accessible routes. The path recommendation takes into consideration the user's type of reduced mobility and the street criteria. His master's thesis resulted in a dissertation work entitled "Assessing Cybersecurity Risks in BLE-Based Asset Management Systems", archiving a final mark of 18 values out of 20. In this work, David conducted a comprehensive survey regarding the main vulnerabilities targeting BLE Beacon Technology and presented a complete cybersecurity risk assessment analysis targeting asset management systems that use BLE devices across healthcare and industry-driven applications. He also developed an experimental setup to test a group of identified vulnerabilities and promote effective mitigation measures and a list of best practices and guidelines. This dissertation research resulted in the publication of a scientific article at the International Conference on Systems, Signals, and Image Processing (IWSSIP) in North Macedonia, indexed by Scopus. During his student years, David developed an appreciation for the education area which made him apply for an opportunity as a teacher at the Polytechnique Institute of Viana do Castelo, where he is now Guest Assistant Professor in the area of Computer Science and Multimedia. As an academic researcher, he has eight indexed publications in book chapter, journals, and proceedings of international conferences. Publications include top journals such as Applied Science or MDPI Sensors.
