Advanced Senior Therapist: Assistive Technology, Innovation And Inclusion
CurrentThis role focusses on the delivery of innovative technology services, capacity building and training within the corporate, health and disability sector with the aim to create more inclusive and supportive environments for people with vision impairment. A key component has been taking the lead role in responding to all requests for worksite assessments under VisAbility's National Panel of Assessors contract to address the barriers experienced by employees with a vision impairment.I have continued to represent VisAbility on several community based access and inclusion advisory groups including:- Town of Victoria Park;- Perth Airport; and,- Western Australian Electoral Commisssion.Currently am working a model to support people with a vision impairment to become members of other access and inclusion advisory groups across Western Australia.I have continued VisAbility's representation on the Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities Executive Committee and its 2024 conference planning committee. For the conference itself I had multiple roles that covered:- Scoping the accessibility of the chosen venue;- Training volunteers and staff at the venue in sighted guide;- Acting as Master of Ceremonies for the 4 day event; and,- Coordinating the audiovisual needs for presenters and delegates alike including access to Auslan interpreters, hearing augmentation system and automated captioning.As an ARATA member I was part of the planning committee for the Australian Assistive Technology Conference for 2024. I contributed in this way as part of my commitment to ARATA's goals and purposes even though I was unable to attend the conference. My significant focus was on the accessibility of the event including their logo design.I am an active member of the Perth Web Accessibility & Inclusion Design Meetup group. I had a key role in the 2024 hybrid Perth Web Accessibility Camp including event planning and acting as Master of Ceremonies.
