Manager Airport
I was accountable for the overall operational and fiscal management of Emerald Airport under the Central Highlands Regional Council’s framework including managing the Councils five (5) smaller aerodromes. Part of my role was to promote interaction with other Local Government stakeholders as well as the State Government and Treasury. I managed the airport’s relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, secure, and efficient aeronautical operations. I represented Council at industry functions, provided strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Group and worked closely with the CEO, Mayor, and Councillors. I performed the role of A/g General Manager Commercial Services as required and managed the Councils three core business units which were Airports, Quarries, and Sales Yard. My role required a high level of diplomacy as well as strong governanc. I have also been successful in gaining multimillion-dollar funding for airport projects under the Building Better Regions Fund and Building our Regions program. I managed all airport infrastructure, valued at around $70m.
Manager Compliance
I was accountable for the compliance aspects of operations, safety, security, WHS, environment, auditing functions and the integration of systems across the North Queensland Airports group which includes Cairns and Mackay airports. I was an active member of the Queensland State Governments District Disaster Management Group (DDMG), and I was also the central point of contact for Government agencies as well as internal and external stakeholders regarding airport safety, operational and compliance matters. I took the lead in incident and accident investigations as well as root cause analysis and mitigation strategies. I worked closely with the group CEO and Board of Directors. As and when required I would fill the role of A/g General Manager People and Compliance.
Manager Safety And Quality Systems
I had management and oversight of the airline’s safety, quality and compliance across the entire organization. This included flight operations, engineering, people safety and ground operations. I was the primary incident and accident investigator. I also provided strategic advice to the Board of Directors and CEO and performed the role of A/g Chief Operating Officer.

I was an International Program Leader within the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) which was attached the CEO’s office. I was a representative of the Australian Government’s ‘Foreign Agency Program’ as part of the broader department which is the ‘Indonesian Transportation Safety Assistance Program (ITSAP). I steered continuous collaboration with other Australian Government agencies as well as all levels of Indonesian Government while providing enhanced aviation safety, capabilities, and capacity to our partner nation. The work I undertook contributed to improving Indonesia’s safety standards. I also worked along with ICAO and the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). When working internationally my role was attached to the Australian Embassy in Jakarta and diplomacy and strong Governance were key essential skills.
Air Transport Inspector
I was a Safety Systems Inspector who conducted surveillance and provided oversight of the safety regulations of civil air operations in Australia, including the operation of Australian aircraft internationally. I participated in and formulated emergency response activities within Australian civil aviation as well as the auditing and evaluation of Australian airlines and maintenance facilities to ensure they meet and comply within legislative frameworks. I performed the function of Safety Systems Specialist within the field, leading audit teams and ensuring safe operating standards are maintained and where possible exceeded. My role also was to promote changes within the regulatory framework and assist in implementing and integrating these changes throughout the industry.
