About David Wait, Md
A native of a small South Dakota town, Dr. Wait is a USD med school graduate who trained in psychiatry at the University of Arkansas and is board certified in psychiatry. As a project during residency, Dr. Wait helped establish project GAIN (Greater Assistance to those In Need), the first PACT model program in Arkansas, in 1990. GAIN has flourished and is now recognized nationally as an “exemplary” ACT program serving over 150 clients who have serious mental illness. Dr. Wait continued in a leadership role in this and other projects assisting the mentally ill and those dealing with addictions. Dr. Wait has served as a consultant to the states of Hawaii, Georgia, and the District of Columbia in both staff education and systems issues. In 2002, Dr. Wait, his wife, Teresa, and 3 children moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where he entered private practice.In 2013, Dr. Wait integrated his private practice with Dirne clinic, which subsequently became Heritage Health. At Heritage, Dr. Wait championed the need for quality psychiatric care and of fully integrated care while building a psychiatric clinic and an Assertive Community Treatment program in North Idaho utilizing his previous experience in Arkansas.Following this, Dr. Wait established an adult psychiatric care clinic for Gritman Medical Center in Moscow,Idaho, a community. Not far from Coeur d’Alene. He focused on collaborative care with primary care physicians in the area to assist with both emergency and general psychiatric care.Dr. Wait has both personal and professional interest in treatment of ADHD. During the Covid crisis, David provided telepsych ADHD evaluations and treatment to adults for the Winston Center based in Spokane, WA. In collaboration with colleagues in Idaho, Dr. Wait now works in a practice utilizing both in-office and Telepsychiatry treatment at Educational and Psychological Services based in Moscow, ID. Dr. Wait also works with Array Behavioral Care, an innovative telepsychiatry company, working part time providing telepsychiatry evaluations and treatment services to adults in Washington, Idaho, and Ohio. He also is a regular volunteer speaker and facilitator at The Well, an innovative wellness program at Coeur d’ Alene’s Kroc Center. Dr. Wait has a deep personal commitment to helping others grow and live meaningfully and well. His approach is one focused on evidence based practices with innovative integration of mental, physical, and spiritual health in a patient centered, relationship and recovery focused model.
