I am a passionate feminist development professional with over 20 years of experience working on gender and inclusion issues in development and humanitarian spheres. I have had the privilege of researching, assessing, and influencing impactful and cutting-edge gender and inclusion initiatives across multiple sub-sectors, institutional settings and geographies. My specific thematic interests and experience are focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment, violence against women and girls (VAWG), child protection, older persons, gender-responsive social protection, evidence-based based policymaking and organisational effectiveness. I am also currently developing expertise on patriarchal masculinities.I have extensive experience of resourcing, building and managing complex gender and inclusion projects – including multi-country exercises and regional/global-level assessments. Over the years, I have become a evaluation and research manager which is demonstrated in my multiple Project Manager positions at ODI and Itad, with clients such as DFID (FCDO), World Bank, UNICEF, UN Women and multiple foundations (Gavi, Global Fund, Gates, Bernard van Leer, Oak Foundation). My methodological specialities include qualitative and participatory methods, with a focus on feminist research and evaluative methods, child/youth friendly approaches, as well as secondary techniques such as systematic reviews and evidence synthesis. I am familiar with a range of research and evaluative approaches, including Problem Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA), Contribution Analysis, Realist Synthesis, and Outcome Mapping/Harvesting. I am also trained and experienced in using MAXQDA (coding software), the innovative ‘Sensemaker’ platform, and EPPI reviewer software (used for portfolio analysis). I am a founding trustee and board member for Cities for Children – a small but ambitious UK-based NGO focusing on child protection issues in Pakistan. I am also a pro bono advisor to the Consortium for Street Children.Country expertise: South Africa, Ethiopia, Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Zambia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, with a general geographic focus on Sub-Saharan and Southern Africa.
