Appointed as the first Director of the newly-created European School of Administration in February 2005. The School's core business is to provide learning and development opportunities for staff of the EU institutions but it is also an active member of the network of Directors and Institutes and Schools of Public Administration (DISPA). Joined the European institutions in December 1973. Most of career spent dealing with HR and training issues. Other recent positions: Director of Human and Financial Resources in the Commission's Interpretation DG (SCIC) and Head of the EU Commission's training unit (1997-2000).Chair of a number of committees in the Commission dealing with various personnel issues. Born in Wallasey, England in 1950.
