Member of the UK Management Team. Leading the Operational Delivery team including Project Management, Engineering, SCM, HSE, Quality and CI. Also assisting the European HUB as Project Management Officer for the Northern Europe countries providing significant input to the building of the Project Portfolio Management Tool. With a portfolio of projects and product sales across Transmission, Distribution, Wind, Rail and Telecoms delivering record revenues in 2020 for the UK business (14% above budget) and achieving all other KPIs including EBIT and Savings targets. This was achieved whilst managing the many Covid restrictions hitting our business particularly the challenges of keeping the System Verification Facility operational and also in our Indian Engineering and planning team. The CI process was revitalized with the Tiered Accountability Board being developed and in use for monthly leadership meetings. All Quality KPIs were exceeded for the year. Improvements (simplifications) were made to the Loose Product organization to better serve our Customers. A number of staff identified with performance issues were successfully mentored through the year. Also working closely with HR providing ideas and strategies for enhancing the Apprenticeship and Graduate programmes ensuring the development of our future talent.

Member of the Northern Europe Management Team. Responsibility for the Operational Project Delivery of the Grid Automation business in Northern Europe (NEU) covering seven countries (Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Norway, Russia and Sweden). This covered businesses in System Automation, Enterprise Software and Network Control sectors. Responsible for all Operational aspects of project delivery including: Health and Safety, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Continuous Improvement. Delivering the project portfolio, generating Revenues and EBIT as required by the business targets, whilst ensuring development of the team to meet the future requirements of the business and compliance with ABB policies, procedures and directives. As NEU HUB Operations Manager many of the units were in need of support commercially and lacking processes for tracking and forecasting revenues. Portfolio Management and Revised Project Review packs were implemented in Finland and Norway which provided greater visibility of the business position. Overall a change in culture from just delivering projects to managing projects and portfolios was achieved and understanding of Commercial aspects improved across the HUB. Recruited an experienced CI Manager from process industries after a careful recruitment process and together we started the roll out across NEU countries ahead of most other regions. During this time, I spent 5 months based in Vasteras Sweden. As part of this temporary relocation, I also spent a great deal of time in Norway assisting them during a challenging period in 2019 H2. This Short-Term Assignment has allowed me to understand cultural differences between nations and adapting strategies accordingly.

Member of the UK Management Team. A driving force in transforming an underperforming Operations team in the UK over a period of 5 years after joining Grid Automation in 2013 from the EPC Substations business. Two legacy Commercial issues both in excess of $1M were resolved in that time. Clarity and purpose were brought to the processes in the unit especially in relation to the Project Reviews and Revenue forecasting. A clear mantra of efficiency by ensuring tasks were done once with multiple uses and the development and mentoring of staff were a key pillar in the organization improvement in that period. Responsible for the business flagship System Verification Facility (SVF) where projects solutions are connected and tested as systems rather than individual components providing transportable commissioning for our Clients.

Head of a group of Project Managers delivering GIS Projects to UK DNOs.Turnkey Project Management and team leadership of 132kV GIS projects for SSE, Northern Powergrids and SPEN. Projects included Reading, Iver, Camberley and Bracknell for SSE; Wakefield, Creyke Beck and Tynemouth for Northern Powergrid; and Carrigtom 132kV extension for SPENWe delivered both Reading and Wakefield projects early bringing considerable benefits to our Clients.Project Management of Reading and Carrington also undertaken in this period.

Ministry of Defence (Procurement Executive), Sea Systems Controllerate, Foxhill, Bath Responsible for the project arrangement of submarine nuclear steam raising plant software based simulators and trainers involved with both new procurement and in-service support. A challenging position, where cost and programme constraints had to be balanced against safety implications.
