David is the National Leader of the Global Trade Advisory Practice at Deloitte Australia. David has over 22 years Big 4 firm experience specialising in Customs & Global Trade. Prior to working in Melbourne David completed a 3 year secondment working in the Customs & Global Trade team in the United States based out of the Deloitte Chicago office. Prior to his secondment to the United States, David worked in the Customs & Global Trade team in the Deloitte and PwC Brisbane offices. David has extensive experience in assisting clients with:- Customs Consulting from both a compliance and cost reduction perspective - Export Controls- Excise DutyDavid has worked for clients across a variety of industries including mining, manufacturing, retail, oil/gas, power, water, high tech, government and automotive. David’s primary focus has always been on developing strategies to minimise an importer’s customs duty liability. David has also worked extensively on customs valuation analyses, in particular customs valuation of related party transactions and the interplay and inherent conflict between customs valuation and transfer pricing.David is a former Chair and current member of the Law Council of Australia Customs & International Transactions Committee and a member of the Australian Border Force's Compliance Advisory Group.
