I have over 25 years’ experience in water infrastructure. Starting as a part time irrigation installer in an Irrigation business in Mooroopna in 1993. I then worked in an administrative role, managing stock, purchasing and Accounts receivable. Transitioned the business to POS and stock tracking. Introduced project cost tracking and transitioned the business to operate under national management. When I moved to Rob Rye Irrigation I moved into sales and in the process became familiar with poly pipe, fittings, welding practices and the manufacture of poly fittings and structures. Eventually I was appointed Manager of the business gaining skills in people management, developing and driving OHS management practise, refining quality control measures and developing pricing and tendering templates.At Onley Consulting I was introduced to design and survey practises. Directly managed a team of surveyors and designers providing concept, preliminary and detail design of irrigation infrastructure upgrades. This role required me to manage stakeholders including Irrigators, Water Authorities, Local councils & Catchment authorities. This also gave me my first opportunity to act as independent Project Manager. Developing packages for tender. Providing tender analysis and recommendations. Scheduling construction works and managing subcontractors. It is, however, in my current role as Senior Project Engineer with John Holland on the GMW Connection Project that I have been able to bring all of this experience together. I take great satisfaction in the part I played in completing some $65,000,000 in construction works over the last twelve months. This project has brought new levels of sophistication to water delivery in the region. In my role in the East we have upgraded the infrastructure of around 100 irrigation enterprises, developed the quality and safety culture of a dozen or so local sub-contracting firms and in the process developed the skills and subsequent opportunities of a diverse group of eight young engineers. As this role is coming to an end, I am now looking to for the right opportunity to make the most of my particular experience, ideally a Project Management role in Water infrastructure, based out a capital city.
