During his time at The University of Texas at Austin earning his biomedical engineering degree, he led the development of a new MEMS-based handheld imaging probe for real-time visualization of skin cancer margins. Using new materials and an innovative design, it achieved better scanner performance at a lower development cost compared to alternatives. This work was published for the International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics (OMN). These experiences, combined with his natural talent and matchless work ethic have helped shape David’s desire to change the face of healthcare by helping bring innovative technologies to market.
