Moved into an office based scheduling role which involved me learning a degree of negotiation, communication and people management skills. Planning and organising resources for future projects while learning the ability to devise solutions to problems/challenges.

Carried out all aspects of overhead lines work ranging from 132kV-400kV on the Scottish Power network. Planning upcoming projects in line with required outages, carry out asset inspections/quality assurance checks of contractors work and on a standby rota which means I’m relied to be on call at any time of day to fault find and keep the electricity on.

Initially starting as a trainee, I achieved an NVQ level 3 in overhead line engineering. I worked through the grades to become an LE1 linesman. My job involved the erection and wiring of transmission towers, ranging from 132kV – 400kV on numerous projects.
