With over 13 years of experience in the aerospace industry, I am a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering (B.Eng.). I have worked in teams both large and small with the opportunity to lead projects and mentor younger engineers.I am passionate about aerospace innovation, safety improvements, emission reduction, cost reduction, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction. I have a strong understanding of the Transport Canada/FAA/EASA design/certification/testing process, and I have successfully completed several major projects involving aircraft interior combi conversions, alterations, structural repairs, and various other STCs. I am both a strong team leader and a self-motivated independent professional, and I am eager to contribute my abilities and experience to an engineering team, as well as to learn new skills and knowledge. My current goal is to become a Transport Canada Delegate and to continue to make a positive impact in my field.I am currently seeking new opportunities to contribute my design, certification knowledge and passion of aircraft.

In addition to these tasks I was given the opportunity to support and mentor younger engineers in the various areas of design and certification of aeronautical products.A few major projects I was the project manager include:1. Generation of structural, fatigue, fracture mechanics analysis of an anti-flutter modification used on the CL-215/215T/415/515 aircraft - approving an alternate material to solve in service vibration and cracking failure.2. Evaluation, substantiation, testing and certification of a composite fiberglass epoxy used on the DHC-3 aircraft considering material strength/layups, glass transition temperature and flammability based on the part location.Typical tasks involve:1. Perform detailed 3D designs; generate CAD drawings and related documents, and supportmanufacturing and assembly of components (ASME Y14.100 standards).2. Aircraft structural analysis, including hand calculation experience for mechanical joints. Using resources such as MMPDS, Bruhn, Roark, aircraft fasteners, materials, sheet metal assemblies, machinedfittings.3. Generation of certification compliance plans, engineering design data, substantiation/test reports, operator installation instructions, etc. Provide engineering support for De Havilland owned type designs.4. Correction and revision to existing engineering data packages including IPC, AFM, MMS, among others.5. Evaluation of part and material obsolescence and generating appropriate solutions based on procurable supply and material/strength requirements.6. Interpretation of airworthiness regulations and aerospace standards collaborating with colleagues and providing guidance to interns. -
Aerospace Mechanical DesignerCanadian North Apr 2015 - Apr 2022Ottawa, Canada AreaMy engineering duties at Canadian North are vast and numerous where was a project lead or worked in a small team. I completed tasks in aircraft repair, part design, part installation, certification and testing. These tasks involve interdependent mechanical/electrical kinematic systems while working in a small team of engineers.A few major projects I have participated as either team member or team lead are:1. Major modification to an ATR42-500 aircraft which involved a full conversion of the aircraft to a Class C freighter.2. Nose Landing Gear Gravel Deflector3. Cabin Safety Equipment STCMy contribution to these projects is summarized below:- Utlilzed SolidWorks to design a halon bottle support and halon tubing routing to 4 nozzles - Created engineering drawings to install the system- Liaised with the machinists in the manufacture and installation of this system (create DCN)- Liaised between ATR and a third party engineering firm to produce structural substantiations for the halon bottle installation design- Participated in test flights for testing of the halon suppression and detection systemAside from this major project, I perform a variety of engineering duties such as:- Design Certificaiton Plans (FAR, CAR, EASA)- Issue DCNs to drawings- Survey aircraft structure- Design/certify modifications to interdependent avionics/mechanical kinematic systems.- Manage aircraft repairs during maintenance checks- Recommend and ensure accuracy of repairs as per the manufacturer structural repair manual (SRM)- Write and revise ICA documents (IPC, ICA, MMS, MDL)- Source materials for certain designs with use of the MMPDS- Write structural substantiation reportsWith regards to aircraft repair, I survey, diagnose and recommend both standard and non-standard acceptable aircraft repairs. Standard repairs can be performed with reference to the aircraft SRM. Mechanics perform these repairs with my oversight. -
