My passion for photography brings the natural world into sharp focus and these days it is difficult to capture an image without some form of litter defacing a beautiful landscape. I am, therefore, passionate about environmental issues. For years I have been involved in litter picking as a volunteer but also when I was a local councillor and also for the company I worked for. For some, there is a stigma surrounding picking up other people's litter, yet it can be really rewarding physically and mentally. The real prize is not just picking up litter but changing attitude surrounding littering.Recently, as a result of a single post on the UK Litterpickers Group Facebook page, I received a huge response which led to the creation of a map showing active groups around the UK. Two things happened, 1. I realised how many people are acting voluntarily to clean up this country.2. How inspired people were to find out they were not alone in their efforts.Some years before I had an idea for a global, interactive map, that did something similar but this was a massive project, too big, I thought, for me to take on. I now want to make a start and would like to communicate with anyone who could help get this project off the ground.
