Digital AssistantFeral House May 2011 - Jun 2012I had a wide variety of responsibilities and took on many tasks while working at Feral House. When I first began at Feral House, my duties mainly revolved around editing and updating the website. I Proofread five pre-release copies of criminal, music, and counter-culture related eBooks in direct collaboration with authors’ and publishing house administration. As far as their web presence is concerned, I edited a combined 700 Company website pages, Wikipedia pages, Amazon author pages, Amazon book profiles, and Createspace pages for spelling and grammar using Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Several months into my internship, I segued into enhancing Feral House's web presence through social network updates and conducting multiple publicity campaigns for upcoming book releases. I directed the publisher’s social media marketing, such as Twitter and Facebook page posts, using Hootsuite. It was important to make sure that, wherever someone stumbled across Feral House information on the Web, it was the most up-to-date version. This was accomplished by managing and coordinating brand information across Facebook, Twitter, company websites, and Amazon author pages, including book availability, release dates, descriptions and reviews, contest information, author information, and company event details. At times, I would narrow my focus to particular books, researching the community surrounding the book's topic and reaching out to leading voices in those communities to issue review copies for their consideration and review. Afterwords, they would provide us with an informed review of the book that we could then integrate into our ad campaigns. My last task at Feral House was working on compiling a recently submitted manuscript into one cohesive document, summarizing sections and creating a companion spreadsheet for images and organizational purposes to aid publishing house administration in adapting the material into a new book.
