Data model/processing logic optimised to maximise session and second-level cache (ehcache) use.Extensive monitoring/control functions via JMX.Later I headed a team to stabilise several legacy bridge applications with deficiencies in performance and reliability. Measures ranged from Oracle query analysis and optimisation to complete rewrite with automated black-box regression test packs to verify.Active in various working-groups governing strategic XML schemas, tool standardisation, development process standardisation.

I was part of an architecture group within a larger business-focussed team working on WISPA, a securities and equities settlement system built on Wilco GLOSS source code. The architecture group engaged in a number of large-scale re-engineering projects to improve stability. performance, manageability, and the build and release process of the application. At the start of the project WISPA was slated for replacement because of stability and performance concerns. As a result of the stabilisation effort, WISPA remains in use today, slated for replacement around 2012.

I was a senior developer on the Back Office System project to implement a new system to receive booking data from branch PoS systems and generate settlements to tour operators and airlines. This was integrated with a Platinum accounting software package as a part of the project.At completion of the back office project I was asked to transfer to the, then failing, point of sale project, where I redesigned the database schema and worked on the upload process to the back office system.
