Pennant International is a company which provides a range of technical training solutions and software products & services around the world to train the next generation of engineers in defence and regulated civilian sectors.I initially joined Pennant on an 18 month contract and was offered a permanent position after 1 year. During my time at Pennant I have taken part in several projects on behalf of military customers. On one project I was given the opportunity to be the analyst team leader which provided me with invaluable leadership experience.Main Roles/Responsibilities as a System Design Analyst:• Work as part of the System Design Team.• Analyse aircraft systems and interpret the information needed to develop emulation requirements.• Testing of emulated systems in both stand-alone and integrated modes.

Primetals Technologies are world leaders in metallurgical plant solutions and a full-line supplier across the entire value chain, from raw materials to the finished product.During my time at Primetals Technologies I completed a project called 'Review of Hot Blast Stove Main and Valve Sizes'. This project allowed me to apply all of the theoretical knowledge from my degree programme to solve a practical problem. While completing my project I gained many new skills and experiences including:Understanding of how a typical engineering business operatesExperience working with a variety of different departments (plant, process, procurement, IE&C)Carrying out a project unlike anything else I had ever encountered (i.e. of a process engineering nature)Writing technical specifications and a technical reportPresenting to senior members of staff and colleaguesAttending formal meetingsKnowledge of blast furnaces, particularly with regards to hot blast stovesReading and understanding engineering drawingsImproved understanding and use of AutoCADDiscussing technical questions with vendors (via procurement)
