David Widmer, Ph.D. has 22 years of research development and administration experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He started his career, first as a Sr. Grants Management Specialist and then as the Manager of Research Development & Outreach. In 2009, David started the Grants & Contracts Funding Development Team (FDT) in 2009, one of the first research development teams in what was a new field. David has exceptional skills and knowledge on how to go about conceptualizing and implementing the resources needed to gain additional and appropriate funding for institutions. David is an exceptional Manager, Mentor, and Leader and has the passion and commitment to direct and enhance funding development & proposal development teams thus enhancing the research portfolio. His knowledge of science and his understanding of the research landscape is what makes David successful and effective. A member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), he has served on several working groups and committees. From 2012-2014 he served on the Membership Services Committee where he was part of the salary survey task force; since 2015 he has been a member of the NORDP Mentoring Program Committee and of the MESHH working group that developed mentorship on-boarding packet and served as Committee co-chair 2017-2021. David has a Ph.D. in Biopsychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, an M.S. in Cell & Developmental Biology, and an M.A. in the History of Medicine. David held a Fulbright Scholarship (1998-1999) and was a Fellow of the Swiss Confederation from 1999-2000.
