The project involved designing and building all new integrated facilities for oil-water separation, oil sales, water treating and steam generation. Several of the challenges included:1. Permitting - The project was in San Luis Obispo County and required Land Use permits, APCD permits and over 120 building permits.2. Endangered Species - Numerous threatened and endangered species were present and presented numerous design, permitting and construction challenges.3. Ultra Pure Water Treatment Plant - The water treatment plant was designed to produce both soft water for steam generation and ultra pure water that met all of the CCR Title 22 drinking water standards and could be discharged into Pismo Creek.4. Simultaneous Operations - The new facilities were built in the same 15 acre canyon as all of the existing facilities which continued to operate during the entire construction period. -
