Lake Forest Park Whizz Kids Academy is an NAEYC Accredited preschool that serves families in the north end. We are conveniently located on Ballinger Way and enroll 1-5 year-old students. Our program is Reggio-inspired and also includes elements of Project Approach and Enterprise Talk. The outdoor play area is one of the most attractive features of our center. My job duties include student enrollment, teacher recruiting and staffing, teacher training, parent education, bulk food ordering and other inventory, grounds maintenance, adhering licensing requirements, and working on other accreditation and quality improvement projects such as Early Achievers and NAEYC.

At Whizz Kids Academy, I work in a team of three to implement a curriculum based on the Creative Curriculum, Anti-bias approach, and the Reggio Emilia Approach. The job involves documenting student actions and conversations to support our emergent curriculum and to extract the academic value of their play which I then describe using photographs and writing that I post on www.portfoliomyday.com.

My responsibilities include implementing a curriculum, planning a weekly schedule, working with a several co-teachers, communicating with parents about their children's goals and experiences, creating activities to supplement the curriculum, teaching a variety of subjects, and chaperoning on field trips around the Seattle area.

I taught English to Japanese speakers around the Ichinomiya/Gifu area of Japan. My duties included preparing/teaching lessons, communicating with parents, and frequent meetings with the owner, and other teacher about business ideas, marketing plans, and the overall state of the school. The classes were held at a variety of locations, so I was also required navigate a street map, and get from place to place by bicycle on time.
