Led the Global Quality and Operations data analytics and data science Center of Excellence. Defined an over 5-year strategy and roadmap to deliver the necessary capabilities to ensure Illumina’s continued high growth success. Coordinated across the organization to align analytics groups and deliver the roadmap.• Worked with partners to deploy an analytics data platform that democratized operations data from critical suppliers to end customers. This enabled engineers to self-serve data and cut troubleshooting time by over 50%. • Deployed statistical monitoring algorithms on the data platform that allowed Illumina to proactively identify potential customer-facing issues and resolve them before customer knowledge.• Provided rapid deployment of data analytics solutions in support of global training (reduction in overdue training from 7% to 0.5%), COVID contact tracing, travel monitoring, and supplier analysis. Enabled Illumina to continue as essential manufacturing with no interruption.• Deployed machine learning and AI solutions via image analysis in support of new product consumable defect identification, and online Quality Controls checks in manufacturing. Previously over 80% of images were never reviewed. Benefits included higher supplier quality on critical consumable parts, and an approximately 33% reduction in scrap.• Deployed multiple dashboards and analytics in support of major programs to include PLM, Quality Management, and Portfolio management.

Launched and completed three major technology transformation programs culminating in Biogen’s new large-scale biological manufacturing facility, transforming the shop floor operations, laboratory operations, and analytic capabilities.• Directed technology transformation programs leading to the new biologic’s facility within Solothurn, Switzerland. These being centered around the installation of a robust MES, process control solution, new LIMS with ELN functionality, and a new process analytic tools and data platform.• Met all budget and schedule commitments. The business achieved 5x yield improvements with a resulting combination of systems, process improvements, and online recipe controls.

Served as the business-facing IT lead for Global Manufacturing and Engineering. Developed and executed a comprehensive strategy for these areas and supported the systems. Oversaw major projects including Eisai integration, maintenance management, space planning, emergency alert system, planning / scheduling process improvements, weigh / dispense, and automation engineering infrastructure.• Directed all technology in support of manufacturing, facilities, maintenance, engineering, technical services, and security, delivering quality services and products that were on-time, on-scope, within budget, and per customer specifications.• Managed the application support team that included all non-ERP systems, over 12 direct reports spread between RTP, Boston, and Denmark, identifying trends and sharing strategy and business plan recommendations with stakeholders.

Served as the COO’s technology and data lead. Developed and executed a comprehensive strategy for both operations and quality areas. Led major projects including paperless laboratory (electronic lab notebook into LIMS into SAP), multiple SAP supply chains and planning initiatives, and electronic document management.• Directed all business processes in support of operations, facilities, maintenance, engineering, technical services, R&D, Quality Control laboratories, and Quality Assurance. Leveraged the SAP Center of Excellence for all SAP support and technical expertise in support of those business units.• Defined an IT strategy and system architecture for both quality and operations. Created a detailed SAP, MES / EBR, and shop floor automation footprint covering all operational areas. Developed a strategy to deliver a truly paperless laboratory and a ‘review by exception’ batch release process. These strategies were then translated into a 3-year capital spend plan for implementation.• Handpicked for a corporate supply chain transformation project tasked with delivering dramatic improvements in the ability to supply, customer service, and inventory levels. Worked with a cross-functional team and external consultants to outline a new operations organization and operating model.• Selected by the COO to design, implement, and lead a Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process for Nycomed US. which delivered on two market opportunities leading to a $1.272 MM sales windfall and $0.990 MM in inventory reductions.• Selected by the COO to lead the artwork redesign project for 70 SKUs within the branded business unit. Transformed a stalled project within six weeks into a well-planned, executing endeavor with hard commitments made directly to the Board of Directors. • Fostered a paperless laboratory project that increased the analyst’s productivity by 19%. A further 10% increase was uncovered when all components were completely integrated in December 2010.

Systems include Werum MES, Intellution, ISOTrain, Loftware and Warehousing.
