As a retail screens executive, I was responsible for ensuring that a satisfactory customer experience was on offer in over 220 Boylesports shops on a daily basis. My position involved leading a team of six on a daily basis and ensuring that the most up-to-date, relevant markets and betting opportunities were available and on display in a clear, concise and user-friendly format for Boylesports’ retail customers. I was also handed the responsibility of developing and marketing Boylesports’ self-service terminals while in this position. On a daily basis, my primary duties and responsibilities included:• Overseeing and ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the screens and specials departments. • Creating and maintaining running orders and schedules for screens/studio• Liaise with the studio broadcasting team to ensure a plan of action for key markets and special offers was in place to promote and advertise accordingly• Managing the production of racing, sports and betting events for retail• Attending marketing, trading and product management meetings• Ensuring an appropriate plan of action was in place to market betting opportunities and specials to a defined retail target market• Liaise with the marketing, online, phone and social media departments to ensure consistency with all key marketing fronts• Liaise with marketing departments in relation to marketing plans and to give feedback with regards to the best way to target specific target markets• Overall product development and marketing of self service terminals• Report to senior management

I began with the company as a trainee cashier and learning the day-to-day running of the retail side of the business. I quickly progressed through the training programmes provided to become a deputy manager within a few months of starting with the company.As a fully trained deputy manager for Boylesports, my key daily actions involved the shop upkeep, cash management, banking, taking and paying out of bets. As a deputy manager I also had to participate in training new staff members who joined the company.
