Senior Programs Engineer
Senior Programs Engineer And Fac Lead Engineer
Created, maintained and updated nuclear utility engineering programs such as Flow Accelerated Corrosion and Inservice Inspection. Additional responsibilities have included writing proposals, developing project costing estimates, negotiating terms and conditions of contracts, managing projects of various sizes and scopes, training new engineers, and conducting research in order to develop new business areas.Inservice Inspection updates included ten year inspection interval updates required by 10CFR50.55a. Documentation updates commonly performed were to Program Plans, Program Basis Documents, Selection Documents, and Scheduling Documents. In addition to these normal updates I performed code reconcilliations between different versions of the ASME Section XI code, and applicable Code Cases.FAC Program updates performed while at AMEC include System Susceptibility evaluations, CHECWORKS modeling, wear rate and remaining service life calculations, and outage inspection scope scheduling. In addition to in office work I have performed on-site outage support for various utilities in support of both the FAC Program and Design Engineering departments performing wear calculations, minimum wall thickness calculations and leading the FAC Programs.Currently I hold a FAC Engineer qualification card at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant and have recently acted as the mentor to new FAC engineers at multiple utilities. Mentoring duties have been to train and transfer knowledge to the new engineer to facilitate the timely and accurate execution of the FAC Program.
Programs Engineer
Performed the Verification & Validation of the CHECWORKS Model for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. Tasks included verification of the System Susceptibility Evaluation against the CHECWORKS Model, component level verification, editing the CHECWORKS Model to reflect plant conditions, performing a Pass 2 analysis, and modeling new lines as deemed necessary by the System Susceptibility review. The overall goal of this project is to decrease the number of unnecessary inspections while increasing the quality of the program in order to meet NRC and EPRI standards.
Programs Engineer
Completed the Fourth Interval ISI Programs for Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant and Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station as the Project Engineer. Tasks performed included preparation of the ASME Code Reconciliation, Third Interval Limited Examination Relief Request, Fourth Interval ISI Relief Requests, ISI Program Plan, Containment ISI Program Plan, Risk Informed ISI Program based on Code Case N-716 and Code Case N-578-1, Selection Document, and ISI Database. These updates were submitted and accepted by the NRC and are both in place and being used by the respective sites. Additionally, I supported the RI-ISI Program Updates for Salem Generating Station, Clinton Power Station, and Harris Nuclear Plant. Tasks included detailed Element Selection, Risk Impacts/Change support, and ISI Program update. These projects were regular NRC mandated updates to risk informed programs, saving utilities both cost and dose by optimizing component selection based upon PRA models.Performed the Validation of the CHECWORKS Model for Calvert Cliffs. Tasks included verification of the System Susceptibility Evaluation against the CHECWORKS Model, component level verification, editing the CHECWORKS Model to reflect plant conditions, performing a Pass 2 analysis, and modeling new lines as deemed necessary by the System Susceptibility review. Additionally, I was the Lead Engineer is performing the Next Scheduled Inspection (NSI) and Pass 2 Analyses for CCNPP Units 1 and 2. The scope of this project included the analysis of all previous UT, RT, and VT inspections for both units, scheduling of inspections for all components, and completing a Pass 2 Analysis using CHECWORKS. This project streamlined the scope selection for the remaining operating life of the units as there had previously been hundreds of unanalyzed inspections. While at Alion I also continued to support Calvert Cliffs during their annual refueling outages,in addition to supporting Braidwood for their Fall 2009 outage.
Programs Engineer
• Served as lead engineer for nuclear power generation projects specializing in Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC)• Developed computer models of power plants using the EPRI CHECWORKS software suite to predict, monitor and mitigate asset degradation• Performed detailed engineering analysis of plant piping and equipment for continued service• Provided engineering consulting services during nuclear refueling and maintenance outages to multiple clients across the country
