Having been involved for many years working in the area of Employee Relations, and specialising in Industrial Relations in particular, I have taken up the role of GSK's Global Head of Employee Relations. In addition to having global responsibility for ER, I have responsibility for the those UK aspects driven by the fact that GSK is headquartered in the UK. Responsibilities are varied and include Global ER principles, policies, standards, frameworks and processes, Oversight of ER compliance, risk and reputation, ER knowledge management and capability building, external and internal networking as well as oversight of global business change initiatives.

Montrose

Moved back from the business into HR to support the proposed disposal of the site following the GW / SB merger. Managed the negotiation, consultation and HR aspects of a TUPE transfer to support the proposed site sale. Responsible also for the site’s continuous improvement and LS / OE activity and Programme Management .Following the abortive sale, responsible for developing the strategy for maintaining site performance and delivering further manpower reductions in line with reducing business. Overall site numbers reduced from around 1000 to 250 whilst all KPIs achieved.

Montrose, Scotland, Uk

Moved from the Ulverston site to Montrose, joining the Site Leadership Team, to head up the non-production side of the Business. Drove the management and development of the site infrastructure to support business needs, as well as involvement in developing the site’s strategy to prepare for its future destiny. Significant developments to the site for which I was responsible included coastal protection project ( £3.5m ), site unification and security upgrade ( £2.0 M ) and numerous services upgrades. Direct Budget responsibility for approximately £10m revenue and 250 people.

Moved from HR into the business to gain line management experience looking after a large support, utilities and maintenance operation as part of Site Services. Responsible for delivering a significant programme of rationalization and outsourcing, resulting in large and sustained cost savings of over £10m p.a..
