Design Engineer
CurrentAs a Design Engineer in the Rotational Engineering Program I have gone through 4 of my 6 rotational assignments in various departments allowing me to gain a more complete view of the effects of a design. Rotation 1 - Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Platform Design TeamParticipated in the manufacturing and assembly of 22 vehicles and 6 trailers. Oversaw the rework of parts from one revision to the next. Facilitated the movement of reworked inventory to the assembly line for production. Assisted production staff in understanding ECN's. Tracked which ECN's had been implemented on each vehicle to ensure configuration management.Rotation 2 - Armor and SurvivabilityWorked with a Project Engineer to develop new technologies to protect vehicle occupants from IED’s.Rotation 3 - Test and DevelopmentWas assigned Work Requests to perform testing on various models of vehicles using accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples and temperature probes. Performed testing in front of customers to demonstrate vehicle capabilities.Rotation 4 - Material Science and Process EngineeringPerformed failure analyses on various components in order to determine root cause. Analyzed parts to check adherence to engineering drawings using a Scanning Electron Microscope, Electron Dispersion Spectroscopy, Optical Emission Spectroscopy, Metallography, Sample Preparation – mounting and polishing, Etchants, Stereo Microscope, Brinell, Rockwell and Knoop Micro Hardness testers.
