As a software engineer, I am most comfortable when collaborating on complex problems in robotics and its related spaces. However, I'm always excited by a new challenge, and I have greatly benefited from occasional dips into technical writing, statistical analysis, research, control theory, documentation, and hardware configuration/communication.During my time at ASV and L3Harris, I worked on a wide variety of problems, switching between projects every few months. As a result, I have contributed to everything from UI/UX interfaces to serial data encoding. I've implemented autonomy behaviors that request specific maneuvers, the control theory that solves the maneuvering problem, and the pilot that actuates the solution. I solved problems with our service manager, our code generation, our testing infrastructure, our perception solution, our simulator, and too many services and apps to list. I commissioned four custom-order vessels — massive undertakings requiring extensive knowledge and communication — including the successful delivery of the most critical project the company has completed. I wrote technical documentation for core features, scripts for statistical analysis, and a paper analyzing the effectiveness of our obstacle avoidance. And in addition to the above, I have contributed several novel features, including our emergency stop system and regression tester.My work at the SEAL laboratory at GTRI focused on my graduate research: applying game theoretic principles to the field of radar. I conducted this research independently, with frequent meetings and presentations on my progress. The research culminated in three published papers of which I was the primary author, including my thesis. I presented one of them at the 2016 IEEE Radar Conference. The third was presented at the Tri-Service Radar Symposium after I left GTRI.
