Associate Exhibits Manager And Floor Staff Trainer
Normal, Il
Associate Exhibits ManagerThe position was structured in many ways. Every Monday, a couple other employees and I would put fresh water in the water table, scrub the exhibit and empty the filters. We performed safety inspections on the climber exhibit. We had a work order system, which contained exhibit issues entered by staff. We checked it each shift to see what work needed to be completed. From there, we determined the best way to fix the exhibit, purchased any parts we needed, and repaired it.I was involved in the development of new exhibits. Meetings were held with the exhibit designers and fabricators. We discussed the new exhibit plans to figure out the most effective way they should be made. The job also had fly by the seat of your pants moments. When there was an exhibit issue, the Exhibit Manager and I would be contacted through the two way radio headset. We would troubleshoot the problem or the exhibit would be closed temporarily, added to the work order system, and repaired as quickly as possible.Floor Staff TrainerI worked shifts with the new floor staff and guided them through their job. This process involved explaining the coordination of museum policies and procedures to new floor staff.
