An institute in the education sector working alongside government to raise standards within the workforce, with a turnover of £1.2m p.a., directly employing six members of staff and operating through an extended network of over 100 consultants, suppliers, stakeholders and contractors nationally to influence education workforce policy, and deliver membership, training, qualifications and continuing professional development to a wide diverse market of teachers, lecturers and trainers. Reporting to the Chair and Board of Trustees as the Accountable Officer with overall responsibility for the delivery of the annual business plan, governance, business development and the financial stability of the organisation.• Devised, positioned and launched the start-up membership body as a key influencer of government policy on representative membership issues.• Developed the Institute to a turnover of £1.2m p.a., earning a surplus of £200,000 by defining the membership proposition, working in partnership with key national educational agencies, unions and awarding bodies to jointly set standards, regulate the profession and deliver improvements in the performance of eligible members.• Partnered with unions, employers and government agencies with the support of the sector to deliver a sector-wide employment and engagement strategy aligned to government reform of education, setting the organisation at the heart of government policy. • Developed an efficient business and financial operational model through effective corporate governance with which to deliver the strategic plan on behalf of the board by working through extensive networks of partnerships with government, agencies and teacher associations in order to deliver the goals of the Institute.
