Director, Environmental, Health & Safety
CurrentLead a department to ensure cost effective compliance with federal, state and local environmental, health and safety requirements impacting offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities. - Provide clear advice on EH&S issues to operations, facilities construction, and engineering management and staff.- Advise and assist law department on various transactions and EH&S compliance matters, and serve as primary point of contact with outside legal counsel. - Monitor updates to laws and regulations and assess impacts to operations, coordinate with trade organizations and industry peers to generate and present testimony at hearings, and develop any required updates to company programs and policies.- Serve as subject matter expert in numerous areas and develop and guide subject matter experts in safety, air, water, waste, land use, endangered species, pipeline, and hazardous materials issue areas. - Lead efforts to acquire permits relating to land use, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, and air pollution control, and ensure cost effective operational compliance with approval conditions.- Coordinate government affairs and represent company at government hearings on discretionary permit actions. - Participate in multiple leadership roles on industry trade association committees. - Advise multifunctional teams in strategic options for permitting new projects with optional configurations. - Coordinate the development, implementation and management of policies and programs to ensure regulatory compliance.- Coordinate resolution of alleged noncompliance with rules, regulations and permit conditions pertaining to safety, environmental standards and pipeline operations.- Serve as Incident Commander, Planning Chief, and Public Information Officer in emergency response exercises and actual incidents.- Administer numerous management and business programs. - Responsible for staff recruitment, adherence to budget, and performance appraisals.
