About David Abosch Mba

I am a social entrepreneur, sustainability strategy advisor and IT consultant. I have spent over 20 years helping large global enterprises implement digital transformation, post-merger integration and other business change initiatives.I now focus on advising organisations on how to deliver business model innovations centred around circular economy principles. The goal is to move sustainability beyond tactical initiatives that simply reduce harm. Sustainability is an opportunity for businesses to drive increased profitability whilst having a net positive impact on the environment and the communities they operate in. I have a particular interest in making digital technology more circular. Using computers for longer helps to tackle the e-waste problem and to reduce demand for critical resources.In the UK we throw away the equivalent of 40 laptops every second. At the same time, 1/4 of young people in the West Midlands don't have access to a computer or tablet at home. Our region also has the highest level of households in the UK with no Internet access.In 2023, I founded ReCognition Circular, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company promoting and enabling digital inclusion in Birmingham. ReCognition runs workshops to train young people to repair and refurbish computers. We support participants with finding fulfilling work that also helps eliminate e-waste. Everyone that successfully completes our workshops gets their own set of tools and their own laptop that they repair and upgrade themselves.ReCognition offer Refurbished Devices as a Service (RDaaS). For businesses hesitant to use 2nd hand devices we provide peace of mind by guaranteeing the performance of the devices we lease. After the contracted period. ReCognition is responsible for the safe destruction of any data and the repurposing of the device in compliance with ISO14001 and ISO27001. Revenue from this activity goes back into providing more training and community support activities.I am passionate about driving positive change through technology and collaboration. I was engaged to manage deployment of Unified Communications/Telephony and Mobility services for a global bank with 100k users. Most recent project involved implementation of an automation platform to orchestrate management, provisioning and migration across the bank's diverse estate of voice, collaboration and compliance systems. The project will deliver significant cost savings as well as improving compliance and end user experience. Delivery is following an agile/Scrum model, where my role as Product Owner enabled UBS to accelerate delivery and realisation of benefits. Previous work with the bank involved leading the deployment of the Skype for Business Mobile application. Crucial to satisfying the bank's stringent information security requirements was the implementation and integration of the PointSharp application, a third party product that securely authenticates mobile users to the SfB platform using a One Time Passcode (OTP). The project is a key component of the Bank's strategic objective to enable access any time, anywhere and on any device. It is also the key enabler of a BlackBerry reclaim programme, moving users on to a Bring Your Own Device platform with annual savings in the multiple $m.
