A catastrophic fire at one of the facilities served to fully test the resiliency of the architecture – no customer outages were reported as one site suddenly went off-line due to the fire.As Vice President for Single Family Technology, led cross-divisional development of strategic plans to fully reengineer business policies, business processes, products, and systems associated with Fannie Mae’s multi-trillion dollar mortgage business. Annual budget in excess of $150 million. Designed and implemented new management frameworks that included portfolio management, Total Cost of Ownership, investment governance using ROI, and continuous performance evaluation and improvement. These frameworks were used to redesign pricing models, simplify contractual terms, and consolidate business systems, enabling 30% expense reductions.Led development and roll-out of Fannie Mae’s automated underwriting system, Desktop Underwriter; winner of the 1998 ComputerWorld Smithsonian Award. Managed implementation and integration for over 1500 customers and 100,000 end-users, establishing a $200 million technology business in less than five years. Headed Fannie Mae’s consulting group, providing coaching and guidance to mortgage lenders, software vendors and service providers as technology transformed the mortgage origination process.
