Orica’s Asia and Middle East region is a $200M+ turnover business with >1,000 employees. It spans 20 countries each facing different regulatory regimes, competitive environments, challenges and profit drivers. The region houses several of Orica’s major manufacturing facilities and 20 smaller manufacturing plants servicing 350 customers. Orica is a $6B turnover business primarily in the manufacture and sale of industrial explosives. The Vice President Strategic Marketing is responsible for identifying, developing and positioning Orica's products and services offerings to drive value for our customers and shareholders. Achievements include galvanising diverse stakeholders (with operations in >100 countries) around a common global Customer Promise.

Technology leadership is a key plank of Orica’s corporate strategy and to support this it invests a significant amount in the Technology function. The General Manager, Commercialisation role sits within the Technology function and is responsible for R&D investment decisions; delivery and funding of R&D initiatives; and managing the provision of field technology support. Achievements include: implementation of a standard stage gate process; reduction in R&D spend; whilst increasing revenue from new products.

The Initiation Systems portfolio of products has global revenues exceeding half a billion dollars, is sold into over 50 countries and has major manufacturing operations in 18 countries. The VP, Initiating Systems had responsibility for portfolio gross margin. Achievements include: executive sign off and implementation of new global IS strategy; and double digit per annum profit growth.

Orica’s EBS business was a business created to introduce and grow the newly developed electronic detonators. The Global Business Manager was responsible for the business strategy, managing an international sales force, portfolio marketing, technical support, and product development. As well as being involved in manufacturing and supply chain. Achievements include: >200% revenue growth and >300% margin growth.

Recruited by Orica to establish the newly formed Strategic Market Planning function.
