I am a millennial driven by a passion for helping people and challenging the status quo. I started out my career working as a Firefighter/EMT instilled early on in my career with the mantra "Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome." After all, that's how all great firefighters become great! To occupy my spare time, I decided selling insurance was a much needed escape from the stresses of firefighting, and in 2007 I broke into the insurance industry with a focus on health insurance and employee benefit plans.I quickly found out that insurance is a legacy industry built on slow processes and outdated systems. Insureds are frequently frustrated by slow responses, delays in processing claims, and an overly complicated process for purchasing insurance coverage that they hardly understood what it covered or why they had it in the first place. As Vice President of Capital Benefits Group and President of LYFE Benefits & Insurance Solutions, I built an agency centered around employee benefit plans, individual medical, and Medicare plans. As healthcare reform became a national priority, I served on the board of directors for the Metro Detroit Association of Health Underwriters. Paving the way to a better healthcare system, I spent time on the state and federal levels working with legislators to draft bipartisan healthcare bills. I navigated many groups through the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the subsequent transitions that followed.In 2017, looking for a new challenge, I branched out even further into Property and Casualty insurance. I joined The Roots Insurance Agency as a Commercial Lines Specialist focusing on commercial property, liability, and work comp insurance. The Roots was acquired by Sycamore Specialty Underwriters in 2019, acquired Mitzel Agency in 2021, and I moved into the Chief Information Officer role for each of these agencies in 2023.Using my firefighter mantra throughout my career, I was able to develop a system for writing policies by "improvising" and rapidly responding to customers and carriers relying on my healthcare experience, "adapting" to legacy systems by building proprietary systems that allowed the agency to operate at a faster pace and larger scale, and "overcoming" the frustrations insureds faced since they had an effective, efficient, and trusted partner they can turn to.Using proprietary, cutting-edge insuretech solutions, we remove the hassle of managing your insurance policies and provide you with peace of mind knowing you are protected from life’s mishaps and have a trusted partner when you need one most.
