Designed the UI system for WatchGuard's M500, the next generation AI-enabled in-car camera system.Later guided the Scrum team focused on building out the UI experience as a technical specialist while working with the Product Owner and other members of the leadership team to write user stories and architecture specification.Other notable projects include driver level work adding multi-touch capabilities, the system's recovery mode, video playback, multi-language support, and localisation for overseas markets.

My initial projects at WatchGuard were directed at maintaining the market viability of the current generation of products. This included adding support for handling encryption keys to be used with self-encrypting drives on the current generation in-car DVR product offering - the 4RE. I also worked on the legacy body camera products - the Vista and Vista XLT - to better handle battery charging monitoring and discharging, along with other bugfixes.

At CExchange LLC. I have been designing the FireBerry product, an embedded tablet-like device based around a Compute Module (the industrial variation of the Raspberry Pi) for expediting in-store tradeins of cellphones at large retailers, which has passed security auditing and run several successful pilot schemes.This position has required that I produce development tools, manage update infrastructure and write applications targeting Linux (languages include C, Python and BASH scripting). To create a responsive multi-touch user interface I have been using the Kivy toolkit to leverage OpenGL support available on the device.In addition to software I have also been responsible for developing hardware in the form of a mainboard which supplies peripherals such as USB, networking and secure cryptographic key storage. This work has included producing schematics, PCB layouts, a bill-of-materials (BOM) for final assembly, and assembling and soldering prototypes by hand.Finally, I have been responsible for coordinating manufacture of prototype units by an outside vendor, writing technical and user documentation, and mentoring QA engineers on debugging effectively on an embedded Linux device.

My primary role is developer of interactive content applications with a view on both front-end and back-end components. While at Navigation Solutions LLC I developed new features for the NeverLost 6 platform and debugged issues with existing features. I was also responsible for creating an interface between a browser running on the platform and core functions such as current location, Bluetooth, sound playback and text-to-speech. This allowed me to develop the first iteration of an API which would allow third-parties to create HTML/JS applications to run on the NeverLost 6. Development was primarily in C/C++ and utilized the QT framework. Further work was implemented with HTML/CSS/JS in creating a series of customer-facing tutorials which could be dynamically generated depending on user settings such as language selection.

After gaining experience in supporting the Enseo STB platform I was moved into a position where I directly contributed to developing software. I worked on developing and debugging firmware, a task which utilised C\C++, Javascript, Linux and utilities and APIs common to the platform. Notable projects included:• Created a new factory test suite which reduced production test time of each Enseo STB unit.• Integrated Teletext libraries and added supporting display features to allow Enseo STB to decode and present Teletext data, allowing Enseo to meet the requirements of high-end European Hotels.• Integrated drivers for USB peripherals such USB touch-screens, keyboards, IR blaster etc., for third-party developers.• Ongoing maintenance and adding features to JavaScript rendering engine of Enseo STB user interface.• Ongoing maintenance and adding features to Windows-based (MFC) application for generating XMLdescriptions of Enseo STB user interface.• Reviewed and produced releases of customer facing documentation and SDK.

My responsibilities included direct customer support and assisting partners developing systems which integrated the Enseo STB product. I visited customer sites (both hospitality and sports venues) which utilised the STB to diagnose, debug and, where possible, rectify problems relating to deployment or infrastructure. For example, analysing RF signal distribution and IP network configurations. Further, I would provide direct support and assistance to partners writing HTML/Javascript applications targeted at the Enseo platform.
