Designed and presented terahertz applications in support of sales and marketing.• Designed and Built a THz mapping system that was used for mapping pharmaceutical ribbons and petrochemical geological samples.• Created a chemometric model with THz data that was able to discriminate between different black plastics on a conveyor belt.• Demonstrated the use of THz refractive index mapping in the analysis pharmaceutical compaction ribbons and the ability to generate in-line results.• Developed a THz method to determine the amount of crystalline API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) is in a formulation.• Showed how THz spectroscopy can be used to predict the dissolution of a pharmaceutical tablet using statistical tools.

Developing goals and direction for the Process Analytical Technology (PAT) group for MedImmune’s Analytical Biochemistry (ABC) department.

Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP, Wilmington Delaware in the Analytical Development team. Integrating vibrational spectroscopy to solve key problems in the development of new and existing drugs.

Post Doctoral Fellowship with Dr. Paul Pellegrino and Dr. Dimitra Stratis-Cullum in the Bio-Inspired Team, Optics Branch, Sensors and Electron Devices Directorate, US Army (2005-2007). Worked on three projects: 1) Photoacoustic spectroscopy, making a MEMS Photoacoustic sensor that employs an Interband Quantum Cascade Laser (ICL) as the source, 2) Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), developing a sensor for the detection of explosives and biological molecules, and 3) Deep UV project, utilizing a novel deep UV diode as a source for a bioluminescence sensor.

Technician for IBC Advanced Technologies, American Fork, UT (1995-1996). Tested liquid chromatographic systems based on macrocycles bound to the stationary phase.
