Investigated the effect of the R132H mutation in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) on metabolism, the chromatin landscape, 3D chromatin architecture and gene expression in a glioblastoma cell line. Used a combination of predictive biomarker assays (EpiSwitch Explorer Arrays) and novel sequencing techniques (Single-Nucleotide Resolution 4sU-Sequencing) followed by bioinformatic analysis using IGV and R. Supervised by Professor Jane Mellor.

Investigated the kinetics and combustion of butanol isomers using ab initio and semi-empirical computational methods. Modelled the Waddington mechanism of butanol combustion using density functional theory (B3LYP) and coupled cluster theory (CCSD[T]) methods with various basis sets. Calculated and analysed restricted Hartree-Fock & Kohn-Sham energies. Placement supervised by Professor Peter Knowles.
